Many heartfelt thanks to Gill Pound, Alison Mugford and others too numerous to name who organized and contributed to a very successful fundraising dinner, tombola and auction in Caunes-Minervois to benefit LSR on 26 July.
The Syrian-themed meal was prepared by the local Table d’Emilie restaurant and served al fresco to about 80 guests in Gill Pound’s lovely garden (La Petite Pépinière de Caunes) accompanied by a group of local jazz musicians who contributed their time and talents to add to the ambiance of the evening.
The generous contribution of prizes and auction items from local artists, wineries and others insured that the tombola, silent auction and call-out auction were all more successful than I had even dared to expect.
Also gratifying to me personally was the number of people who expressed their appreciation of LSR’s work throughout the evening. It is always nice to know we have friends out there.
It was a fun evening for all and resulted in a generous financial contribution to LSR’s program of providing humanitarian support to refugees and increasing awareness of the refugee crisis in our region. A very sincere thank you to all involved.
