LSR is now involved in helping a “new” family: father, mother and three young children under ten. One is a baby of 18 months. They have just received a one-year residency permit (titre de séjour) and within the next two months or so they may be given housing and other support. Bureaucracy often moves slowly, so for the next few months they will still need rent for housing and donations of fresh food. They have limited sources for some packaged, non-perishable foods, but have gone mostly without meat, fresh fruit and vegetables for months. We want to help. Nappies (diapers) for the baby are also a problem as they are so expensive and their funds are severely limited.
What we need now:
One or two persons who will coordinate a nappy-donation effort and collect enough nappies to last for several weeks. We will then come and collect them, or they can be delivered to a contact address. This will avoid having to make separate trips back and forth for every single package of donated nappies. Contact Wendela email@example.com for more information.
We are also trying to organize fresh food donations, but we need to figure out logistics as these foods cannot sit around. More to come soon.
