One of the families that LSR has been looking after since November has been re-housed to Carcassonne for the moment from the pretty dire squats they were in, in Beziers. Shaka and I visited them yesterday to ensure all was well and it is!
They are in social housing in a large apartment, all of which has been re-painted, recently. It’s big, has a small terrace and plenty of grass around for the children to play on. They are so happy and to know that the mosque, school and wonderful spice shops are just 5 minutes away from them was the icing on the cake.
It’s not over for them quite yet as they still have to be given asylum but they are on their way at least to making some sort of future life, here in France.
Again, so much of what we do is largely due to your donations and fundraising efforts for LSR. We have fed this lovely family since November from donated food and money (to buy the halal meat etc), they have been clothed from donated items, given kitchen items which have been given and much, much more besides as they go through their asylum process.
The family would like to say a massive ‘shukraan’ (thank you in Arabic) to everyone who has and continues to help families like this one by donating time, money, food, clothes etc.
In the meantime, they always feed us… here are some pics from yesterday’s feast that we were lucky enough to be a part of.
